***Lyrics to the Norwegian Birthday Song with an English Translation and YouTube Videos

~Here are lyrics to the Norwegian Birthday song “Hurra for deg som fyller ditt år!”

*~Hurray for You for Celebrating Your Birthday).

It’s a birthday song written by Margrethe Aabel Munthe (1860 – 1931):

Hurra for deg som fyller ditt år!
(Norwegian)

Hurra for deg som fyller ditt år!
Ja, deg vil vi gratulere!
Alle i ring omkring deg vi står,
og se, nå vil vi marsjere,
bukke, nikke, neie, snu oss omkring,
danse så for deg med hopp og sprett og spring,
ønske deg av hjertet alle gode ting
og si meg så, hva vil du mere? Gratulere!

Høyt våre flagg vi svinger. Hurra!
Ja, nå vil vi riktig feste!
Dagen er din, og dagen er bra,
men du er den aller beste!
Se deg om i ringen hvem du vil ta!
Dans en liten dans med den du helst vil ha!
Vi vil alle sammen svinge oss så gla’
og en av oss skal bli den neste – til å feste!

Here’s an English translation I found…

Hurray for You for Celebrating Your Birthday!

Hurray for you for celebrating your birthday!
Yes, we congratulate you!
We all stand around you in a ring,
And look, now we’ll march,
Bow, nod, curtsy, we turn around,
Dance for you and hop and skip and jump!
Wishing you from the heart all good things!
And tell me, what more could you want? Congratulations!

We wave our flags up high! Hurray!
Yes now we’ll really celebrate!
The day is yours, the day is great,
But you’re the best!
Look in the ring who you want to choose!
Dance a little dance with who you want to!
We’ll all turn around together so joyfully,
And one of us shall be the next – to celebrate!

Here you can hear the first verse (which is how it’s traditionally sung)…

Healthy Wishes, Venus

My Favorite Poem...

Every time I read this , it makes me feel empowered.

Attitude
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on my life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes. --Charles Swindell

Rose Marie's Birthday Dinner!

Have a great week! Remember to follow me for lots of fun food, beauty, and holistic health tips. Yesterday, was my aunt Rose Marie's birthday and we celebrated at our favorite local Chinese restaurant here in Tucson, name the Golden Dragon, which has been in business for over 20 years. The nourishing traditional food of the Orient has captures all my family's taste buds for many years. This restaurant uses fresh local vegetable ingredients and healthy oils. The food is not heavy with bad fats. There were several dishes at the table but my body was craving green hot tea (with a touch of stevia, I carry packets with me my purse) and soup, sizzling rice soup to nourish my inner spirit and of course, I left out the beef.( I do eat organic Bison 3X a month~ Supper Yummy~ Bison is higher in Omega 3 fatty acids than beef. CLA is also an essential fatty acid found primarily found in organic grass-fed Bison meat. Some studies have also shown that organic grass-fed Bison contain up to 4 times more selenium than beef.) Soup is such an amazing complete nutritional packed meal for me. My veggie broth soup was filled with peas, carrots, celery, bamboo stouts, bok choy, bean sprouts and toasted brown rice. I am going to share a picture of this delicious soup with you. (my boys enjoyed the veggie egg rolls)I am working on making my own healthy tofu version of this soup and I am going to share it with you. I look forward to going to the farmer's market tomorrow, to look for the freshest ingredients to help me nurture my family's constitution to HEALTHY EATING. My family staying healthy during these cold winter months is vital to me. With these kind of pure tantalizing soups, I have experienced that my family's immune system stays so strong. The satisfaction of knowing that I can influence others to stay on a healthy path and avoid being constantly in a doctor's office, gives me great satisfaction. To know that I can help them stay healthy instead of them consuming tons of cold and flu prescription drugs during the flu season with the simple basic , natural ingredients straight from our mother earth, by using my nutritional sense that I have developed and acquired from years of practice and seeing actual results, is now paying off over these years because many of my family and friend's over-all health has improved a great deal, they are on the right path in obtaining holistic whole body wellness from my simple, natural advise.
Why Raw Foods???
The simplest way I've seen it explained is like this:
"When food is cooked above 118 degrees F for three minutes or longer, its protein has become coagulated, its sugar has become caramelized, its natural fibers have been broken down, which means it will take longer to move through the intestinal tract, 30% to 50% of its vitamins and minerals have been destroyed and 100% of its enzymes have been destroyed. Cooked food depletes our body's enzyme potential and drains the energy we need to maintain and repair our tissues and organ systems and shortens our lifespan."

Why All Should Eat Only Raw Foods Always

Healthy options for your cocktail plates~

This week, Dr. Andrew Weil posted healthy options for your cocktail plates! Thanks so much, Dr. Weil for all you valuable information. This way of eating is so beneficial to our bodies. Rock on Native Tucsonan! Your the best and we love you!! Hi everyone, join me in keeping your families healthy this Holiday season, and their bodies free of toxins.

1. Crudités. The fiber in veggies will help fill you up, and they provide a nice, satisfying crunch. Choose a spectrum of colors (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots are good choices) and serve with low- or non-fat plain yogurt. (Greek yogurt) Add some fresh herbs and seasonings for flavor.

2. Mixed nuts. When eaten sparingly, nuts are a terrific snack. Walnuts are a favorite, as they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Almonds and roasted soy nuts are also good choices. Nuts can be high in calories and fat (even if it's the healthy monounsaturated kind) so don't overindulge.
3. Smoked salmon. Salmon (especially wild Alaskan sockeye salmon) provides omega-3 fatty acids, the anti-inflammatory, essential fats our bodies need for optimum health. (Yummy!)
4. Grilled figs and bleu cheese. Figs are high in fiber and antioxidants, and when combined with a bit of bleu cheese, provide calcium and protein - all in a delicious, easy-to-eat package. ( My favorite, also pairs well with a nice bottle of organic wine.)

Avoid if you can my loves, Fatty Dips filled with High-fructose corn syrup , Nitrite filled cocktail franks and Conventional toxic mini-meatballs, anything fried.

Holistic Precautions to Stay Healthy

Hi my loves!

How was everyone’s Saturday? Good I hope, despite the nasty weather here it's been going great! I am trying to limit my familes exposure to germs and the seasonal/swine flu. I do not believe in the flu shot, because I PREFER to TAKE the proactive holistic approach to protect my family rather them pumping our bodies with formaldehyde's and heavy metals.. I have incorporated these healthy holistic approaches in my home for many years now. My family rarely gets sick, if we do I cut our sickness time in half. Knock on wood my son's have NEVER, had a ear infection or taken a dose of antibiotics.. I have also recently scoured the Internet for more information on the seasonal / swine flu, I came up with this essential TO DO LIST....

Wash hands for 20 seconds with soap OFTEN (avoiding anti-bacterial gels). A good trick is to SING the "Happy Birthday" song TWO times while hand washing.

PLENTY OF REST! (7-8 HOURS A NIGHT)

Don't touch face (KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUT OF YOUR MONTH AND NOSE!! Sorry TO COME ACROSS SO BOLD but I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, I do not mean to sound like your MOM!!)

Get Vitamin D!!! (I get mine from the sun, 15-25 minutes daily or every other day~ I do also supplement on occicaion.)

Gargle with warm salt water twice a day (I use Celtic salt daily in my home. Celtic salt has pure balanced minerals. These minerals are essential for our Vitality.) Take warm Celtic salt water and dip a q-tip into it and swab the inside of nostrils daily.

USE a Neti pot (My family uses our Neti pot every other day, WE LOVE IT~ The best $25.00 investment~ I MADE for my families health. FIRST TIME we used it we could feel the difference, when we removed the "yucky" toxins from our nasal passages. The Neti pot is great if you have allergies too.)

Eat fresh, organic, raw garlic (l LOVE GARLIC!! Call me crazy girl, but I love the lingering smell on my fingers after chopping it.)

Take your Vitamins and a high quality probiotics daily

Drink warm liquids

Consume plenty of vitamin C-rich RAW foods

Stay hydrated (START YOU DAY WITH 8OZ WATER AND FRESH LEMON, JUMP START YOUR LIVER! Also this will help Alkaline your bodies PH balance)

Do not wear shoes in the home (VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP GERMS AT BAY!)

Change clothes when you get home (Great habit to get use too)

Create a Homemade holistic essential oil mist. (*Great gift idea).
Many Studies show that many essential oils are very effective against bacteria, viruses, and even mold.
Email and let me know what your favorite oils are.

Mix 10-15 drops essential oil “therapeutic grade" (I highly suggest the known-antiseptic essential oils listed below.)
1 cup purified or distilled water
1/4 cup Everclear (grain alcohol)

Combine ALL ingredients in a cool GLASS spray bottle; shake, shake, shake and spray away, girls..

I spray my home TWICE A DAY. The Essential oils I use are Lemon, Eucalyptus Geranium oil, Grapefruit seed or Tea Tree oil. These essential oils are proven to have anti-bacterial properties. This is a good idea if you are concerned about Swine Flu and want to add natural amazing scent to your home. ...Try making this AWESOME homemade essential oil mist — You will be glad you did, my loves…This holistic approach is proven to work in the fight against germs, and WILL NOT pose the health dangers like many conventional store bought disinfectants. Please do your part to get TOXIC CONVENTIONAL STORE BRAND DISINFECTANTS out of YOUR home, especially FOR THE health and safely of children and the elderly. I don’t even allow chlorine bleach & harsh chemical cleaners in my home – haven’t for years.

Avoid crowded places

Have a fantastic weekend! Green Healthy Blessings!!!

Hey Guys!

Today was a gloomy and cloudy days... one of the reasons we live in Arizona is for the sunshine. I’m sitting here after a long day at the Jacobson's. I am very thanks ful for my blog. I m drinking Synergy raw Kombuciatea the guava flavor. So aticlively yummy . My family is unwanding after dinner. Dinner was amazing.I made a dillish organic bison roast with carrots and parnips. I am shar\ing my recipe below. I cooked this awasome dish in my Le Creuset, Cast Iron, Cooking in cast iron is known to greatly increase the dietary source of iron. Women are more prone to iron deficiency because of the loss of blood through menstruation. If you have not invested in cast iron pan to cook in I would highly recommend hrowing out any tefllon and making the switch..(Sake cook wear is a totally different blog I am going to write in the near furture) Dinner was amazing For dessert, we had sliced strawberries topped with a drizzle of agave nectar and some fresh orange zest. I personally did not eat any meet but on occiancion I do enjoy bison. I'm embarking on a juicing frenzy will start tomorrow morning to heal, detox, and lose a little bit of excess fat I still have from body holding it because I still nurse my three year old son. He is very healthy and takes a daily probiotic. My body and mind have been through a lot it's time to clean house

NUTRITION Research by Dr. M. Marchello at North Dakota State University has shown that the meat from Bison is a highly nutrient dense food because of the proportion of protein, fat, mineral, and fatty acids to its caloric value. Comparisons to other meat sources have also shown that Bison has a greater concentration of iron as well as some of the essential fatty acids necessary for human well being. Readers' Digest magazine has even listed bison as one of the five foods women should eat because of the high iron content. gred meat, but I belive very stronlgy in Dr. Westorn price phishpy for my husband and childern. I belive in We have made a successful transion to eating organic Bison Things are going great. I was hoping to get more sun today, but is actually was a biy of a over cast. I ran a couple arans and got some work done organizing my kitchen. We ar getting ready for our big move. We are taking it one day at a time, and our hoping to be settled in our new home for the new year. It never cases to amazing me how the dessert cimlte chances so drastically. Yesterday was an extremely beautiful sunny day. As cliche as it sounds, I love to take the time to smell the roses and boy-oh-boy what a difference this can make in everyday warm and sunny AZ in the old west. I got a change to get outside and go for a long hike in Sabino canyon it was beautiful and lasted about 1 hour...just enough to get a little with my younger son Lance. Then I headed out to meet Granddad at his Dr. Appt. How is your week? I was secretly hoping to get more sun time

Hopefully you will all decied to “go organic,” whole natural raw foods really do play a major vital role in your overall health. Eating as close to nature as possible has boosted my familes energy levels. My complexions has improve. We catch fewer colds, suffer fewer allergies, and recover quicker from illnesses. I feel very strongly that the health benefits of eating raw organic whole foods last a lifetime. Try it out, as you will see the difference immetialty.

If you are concerned about your health, animal welfare, and the environment, making the switch from conversion beeef to natural orgic bison is one of the best things you can do, I adtaappede this article from the ranch website below..

Health Benefits of Grass-fed Buffalo Meat

Q: How does Buffalo meat compare to beef?
Buffalo meat has 3.5 times less fat than beef.*(see chart below)
Buffalo meat is lower in cholesterol than beef.*
Buffalo meat contains less calories than beef.*
Buffalo meat has more iron and vitamin B-12 content than beef.*
Buffalo meat has 35% more protein than beef.
Excerpted from the USDA Handbook

Q: What are the health benefits of 100% grass-fed buffalo meat as compared with grain-fed buffalo meat?
Grass-fed buffalo meat is:
Lower in total fat
Lower in saturated fat (up to four times less)
Higher in Omega-3 fatty acids
Richest natural source of CLA (Conjugated linoleic acid)
Up to four times more vitamin E
A good source Beta Carotene and Vitamin B-12

About FATS (Good & Bad)
"If you eat a typical amount of beef, switching to a lean grass-fed beef will save you 17,733 calories a year...If everything else in your diet remains constant, you'll lose about six pounds a year".

Data from J. Animal Sci 80(5):1202-11
Q: What types of good fats does 100% Grass-fed buffalo meat contain?
Grass-fed meat is higher in Omega 3 fatty acids as well as CLA (Conjugated linoleic acid)
"Omega-3's are "good fats" that originate in the green leaves of plants and algae. They play a vital role in every cell and system of your body. People who have enough omega-3's in their diet are less likely to have high blood pressure or an irregular heartbeat, and are 50% less likely to suffer a heart attack. Omega-3's are essential for your brain too. People with a diet rich in omega-3's are less likely to suffer from depression, schizophrenia, attention deficit disorder, or Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, animal studies have shown that omega-3's may reduce your risk of cancer."

"Meat from grass-fed animals has 2-4 times more omega-3 fatty acids than meat from grain-fed animals."

The reason 100% Grass-fed buffalo meat has such a high level of omega-3 fatty acids is due to the green grass that they eat. When animals are switched to a grain diet, the levels of omega-3's quickly decline. (see chart below):
Data from J. Animal Sci 1993 71(8):2079-88
Q: What are CLA's?
Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), is another type of "good fat". Meat and dairy products are the richest known source of CLA. 100% pasture-raised buffalo meat contains 3-5 times more CLA than grain-fed animals.
"CLA may be one of our most potent defenses against cancer...there is new evidence that CLA may reduce cancer risk in humans. In a Finnish study, women who had the highest levels of CLA in their diet had a 60% lower risk of breast cancer than those with the lowest levels. Switching from grain-fed to grass-fed meat and dairy products puts women in the lowest risk category."

Vitamin E
The meat from grass-fed animals is four times higher in Vitamin E than the meat from grain-fed animals. (see chart below)
"In humans, Vitamin E is linked with a lower risk of heart disease and cancer. This potent anti-oxidant may also have anti-aging properties. Most Americans are deficient in vitamin E."
Data from Smith, G.C. "Dietary supplementation of vitamin E to cattle to improve shelf life and cas beef for domestic and international markets." Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado

Since the birth of my first son Leif in 2005 I have felt incredibliy connected to the everchanging moon cycle, emotions, moods, behaviours and impulses that are uniquely affected by it.
For me, journaling through phases of the moon gives a unique insight into the relations of my inner self and my minds eye. evaluating my rhythm over a period of time means I can observe my strengths and prepare for my weaknesses. I strogly believe that human beings are affected by the themoon, especially women are connected to the moon by our blood, our hormones and our souls.

Human beings are affected by the moon. Women especially are affected by the moon and their menstrual cycle is intimately linked to this celestial body.

The moon:
regulates your menstrual cycle,
can trigger ovulation and fertile times,
affects your emotions and
affects the way people behave and view the world.
Women are connected to the moon by our blood, our hormones and our souls.
The first step in claiming the gifts of our menstrual cycle is to become re-acqainted with Mother Moon. Putting aside all the scientific phenomena of the way the Moon affects the earths tides, weather, animals, fluids and moods, symbolically the Moon has a lot to teach us.
In myth the Moon is a primary female archetype travelling the great round of Birth, Maturation, Death and Rebirth each month. This is a primal fundamental cycle of the universe of which every single living thing participates.
We all are born, we grow, mature and we die .
Humans do it, animals do it, plants do it and even love affairs, business ventures and economies do it. It is only our modern culture with its focus on youth and never ending productivity that attempts to deny this basic cycle of life. Living in this culture it is easy to forget that we are fundamentally cyclic creatures.
Most of us have been taught to believe that being a cyclical creature is a primitive or inferior affair. We believe that we will be less productive, less useful or just plain stupid if we allow ourselves to follow the rhythm of our cycles.
However, there is much grace, flow and harmony to be achieved through living in a cyclic manner. Being able to recognise and use the most appropriate energy that is available to you at any given moment is in fact a far more efficient use of time and energy.
Just like the Moon's journey through the phases, a woman's menstrual cycle can also be divided up into easily understood and clearly experienced phases. These phases take on archetypal (or universally recognised) feminine energies as set out in the following image.
Each month a woman will experience changes in the way she perceives herself and her world in accordance to where she is in her menstrual cycle. The moon's cycle also adds another subtle tone to her monthly experience, increasing or decreasing the intensity of the energies depending upon where the two cycles overlap.
For example if a woman is ovulating with the Full Moon, this mode of cycling gives a woman the best chance of physical fertility, great for trying to conceive children, as the full moon accentuates the time of Ovulation.
When a woman bleeds with the full moon, this mode of cycling enhances inner expression, intuition and the development of the inner, spiritual life.
As women become more aware of the different phases and how they experience them, they find it much easier to recognise and use the phase they are at and will also experience a far greater acceptance of their bodies, their menstrual cycle and their feminine nature.
For more information, go to the Female Energy Cycle.

Pablo Neruda~From Passions and Impressions..

Today I would like to share poems from one of the world's most amazing poets, Pablo Neruda. I enjoy reading his work in the evening while sipping on a nice warm cup of organic herbal tea( sometimes I add a little agave nectar and almond milk) after the boys are in bed. I have found that his words can calm my minds and soothe my soul. Enjoy my loves!!

Tie your heart at night to mine,
love, and both will defeat the darkness like twin drums beating in the forest against the heavy wall of wet leaves. Night crossing: black coal of dream that cuts the thread of earthly orbs with the punctuality of a head long train that pulls cold stone and shadow endlessly. Love, because of it, tie me to a purer movement, to the grip on life that beats in your breast, with the wings of a submerged swan, So that our dream might reply to the sky’s questioning stars with one key, one door closed to shadow.

Love,
Because of you, in gardens of blossoming flowers I ache from the perfumes of spring. I have forgotten your face, I no longer remember your hands; how did your lips feel on mine? Because of you, I love the white statues drowsing in the parks, the white statues that have neither voice nor sight. I have forgotten your voice, your happy voice; I have forgotten your eyes. Like a flower to its perfume, I am bound to my vague memory of you. I live with pain that is like a wound; if you touch me, you will do me irreparable harm. Your caresses enfold me, like climbing vines on melancholy walls. I have forgotten your love, yet I seem to glimpse you in every window. Because of you, the heady perfumes of summer pain me; because of you, I again seek out the signs that precipitate desires: shooting stars, falling objects.
